DPH Motorsport press release:
With round nine of the MX Nationals looming, the DPH Motorsport Factory Husqvarna Racing Team is pleased to confirm that both the FC250 and FC450 race bikes will be on track in Gladstone, Qld, this Sunday. Dylan Wills is looking to continue recent form after taking the overall win last time out in the MX2 class, while the MX1 Factory Husqvarna machine will be piloted by Callum Norton for the final two rounds.
Callum Norton: “I’m excited to race the FC450 in the final two rounds of the MX Nationals. Last round’s double-header was the first time I’ve lined up in the MX1 class, racing to some strong finishes. After riding the DPH FC450, I can’t see why I won’t be able to do it again in Gladstone. I can’t thank DPH, Husqvarna and all the team’s sponsors enough for the opportunity. This aligns with my long-term goals.”
Dale Hocking, DPH Husqvarna team owner: “With Kade unable to ride, we didn’t want to waste the opportunity to have our FC450 on track at the final rounds of the MX Nationals. After looking at several options and discussing at length with Husqvarna, we all concluded that having Callum on board would be a good fit for the team while also helping him to take steps towards his own personal goals in 2018 and beyond. He’s been on the bike for the last week or so and at 17 – or 18 in two weeks, as he keeps telling us – he shows great maturity in his riding, so we’re looking forward to seeing him on track in Gladstone. As for Dylan (Wills), he just needs to keep his head and ride the way he proved he can at Raymond Terrace and I’m sure he can be on the top step again.”
Dylan Wills: “I’m confident heading into round nine. I left Raymond Terrace with my best result to date and proved that I can put the FC250 on top, moving forward to fourth in the championship. All year I’ve shown speed, but to string everything together felt incredible, so I’ve kept up the hard work to make sure I put myself back into contention for more race and round wins.”
Located on Jono Porter Drive, Benaraby, near Gladstone, round nine of the 10-round MX Nationals will test riders’ skills with a technical hard-pack track and tight racing. We’ll be back to our traditional race format with bikes on track from 8am Sunday and the first race from 10.25am.
As with all MX Nationals rounds, if you can’t get to the track this weekend, head to www.mxnationals.com.au to watch all the action via the LIVESTREAM.
