A lengthy break in the Pirelli MX Nationals provided Aaron Tanti with an opportunity to reset ahead of the second half of the series, which the New South Welshman believes contributed to his runner-up finish at Conondale’s sixth round in Queensland yesterday.

The Complete Parts Kawasaki Racing rider came out swinging in the opening moto, leading a number of laps before a light fall saw him concede the position to eventual victor Wilson Todd (Serco Yamaha), granting him second.

Tanti hit the front once again in the final outing, taking control in the opening laps before slipping back behind Todd to round out the day in second. It marks Tanti’s most consistent scorecard since the opening stop, where he recorded a career-first overall victory.

“It was a pretty good day today at Conondale and I went 2-2,” Tanti explained. “I was leading moto one before having a bit of an off, although I was up straight away. Race two I hole-shotted, but Wilson [Todd] got me in the early laps, we battled for a little and I ended up second. I feel like the break was a restart for me and it gave me a chance to reset my mind, so I’m happy with how I went today.”

Despite losing ground on Todd in the championship chase, Tanti has been promoted to third in the standings as the series heads to Raymond Terrace in New South Wales on 14-15 July for the second double-header stop of the year.
