World championship regular currently in the US with Geico Honda.
Queensland’s Hunter Lawrence will sit out the next two rounds of the 2018 MX2 World Championship, instead training in the US with Geico Honda.
Lawrence, 19, continues to recover from a hand injury that has disrupted his final grand prix campaign, now to miss the back-to-back Indonesian rounds.
“Really disappointed to miss the two Indonesian rounds, but I need to get back 100 percent so we can finish out the remainder of the 2018 MX2 World Championship season strong and get the results I am capable of,” Lawrence declared.
Despite rumours suggesting he will join Geico Honda early in select Pro Motocross rounds, Team Honda 114 Motorsports principal Livia Lancelot has confirmed that Lawrence will return for Loket, Czech Republic, on 22 July.
“To be without Hunter for two rounds is really a shame, but we are looking forward to having him back at Loket,” she explained. “Since fracturing his hand badly in Arco he hasn’t been able to get back on the ultimate pace he’s capable of and that’s not what anybody wants to see.
“I’m really sorry for all the sponsors and for the Indonesian fans who wanted to see him riding, but we all want to see him back at top speed and that is what we are working on like always.”
