Following a premature end to a multi-year agreement with DIGA-Procross Husqvarna that was slated to see him through to the end of the 2018 European Motocross Championship, Australian Caleb Grothues has been offered a lifeline in the EMX250 category with the ASTES4-TESAR Yamaha Official outfit.

The youthful talent, who has raced KTM and Husqvarna machinery for most of his career, was drafted into the squad just days prior to the weekend’s sixth round at Saint Jean d’Angely in France.

Grothues confirmed the news, however his weekend in France was cut short when a stone caught up in his chain denied him of qualifying for Sunday’s two motos.

Contesting four rounds of the first six, the Western Australian is currently situated 26th in the championship standings and will return to action again this weekend under the guidance of the David Philippaerts-operated squad in Ottobiano, Italy.

The former 65cc world champion is currently joined in the series by fellow Australian Jett Lawrence (Suzuki), who sits 23rd in the championship rankings.
