Dutchman re-injures foot, forced to sidelines for indefinite amount of time.
Honda HRC’s Brian Bogers’ debut in the MXGP World Championship has been delayed after re-injuring his foot during a training session, forcing the Dutchman to undergo further surgery to repair the damage.
Bogers, who initially suffered a fracture to his right foot in November, ultimately sidelining him for a number of months, is scheduled for surgery on 7 May after medical examinations revealed a crack in the same bone.
“This is bad news after the long process that got me back on my Honda following the injury,” said Bogers. “I followed the recovery programme day by day as suggested by doctors, but unfortunately these things can happen and now I’m sidelined again.
“There is nothing I can do now apart from undergo surgery and do it all over again. Hopefully I’ll be able to re-join my team as soon as possible, but we will know more only in a few weeks’ time.”
Former world champion Tim Gajser has been spearheading the factory outfit in the premier class, while Calvin Vlaanderen has been representing the squad in the MX2 category. The sixth round of the MXGP World Championship is scheduled for 1 May at Orlyonok in Russia.
