Tasmanian-native shifts to top five championship placing.
Youthful Australian talent Jed Beaton has expressed his pleasure in landing on the podium at Sunday’s fifth round of the MX2 World Championship in Portugal, which saw him claim third overall for the second time in his career on the world stage.
Beaton, who scored a podium at the final round of the world championship in 2017, charged to a supreme 3-4 scorecard at the Agueda circuit, collecting 38 championship points in the process.
“It’s always good to be on the podium – that’s what we all aim for,” Beaton commented. “The track was tough, but I started with a good qualification on Saturday – the ground was really soft after all the rain they have had here and there were many ruts but I like the technical tracks and had a lot of fun riding here.
“Everything gelled together and I really enjoyed this weekend. My season is building with the help of the team and Kawasaki and I feel like I’m getting better on all sorts of track. It was a nice surprise to make the podium already here at the fifth round of the series and for sure we will continue to progress further.”
The F&H Racing Kawasaki ace now sits an impressive fifth in the series standings as the world championship heads to Orlyonok in Russia on 1 May for the sixth stop on the calendar.
