Teenage talent to spend single season in EMX250 with Suzuki prior to switch.
World championship winner Jett Lawrence will follow elder brother Hunter to Geico Honda and the US in 2019 after signing a long-term deal with the American organisation.
Lawrence, who was 65cc world champion in 2014, will contest EMX250 with Suzuki in Europe throughout 2018 prior to his move to America the following season.
Made official by Geico Honda this week, 14-year-old Lawrence will race as an amateur in the US with Factory Connection from 2019 and could step up to the professional ranks alongside brother Hunter as soon as 2020.
“We’ve done our research and talked to a lot of people, in both Australia and Europe, and they all believe Jett is the real deal,” commented Geico Honda team manager Dan Betley. “We’re looking forward to having both Hunter and Jett learn the ropes of US racing with us starting in 2019.”
The Factory Connection Honda amateur team has become one of the most successful in the sport, winning titles with Trey Canard, Justin Barcia and Eli Tomac before all three moved to the Geico Honda team to commence their professional careers with immense success.
