DPH Motorsport Yamaha will use a one-off chrome livery for this weekend’s Monster Energy AUS-X Open, which is set to be the biggest event of the year domestically.

The YZ450F of Kade Mosig and the YZ250F of Wilson Todd have both received make-overs for the two-day show, with the front-end of each motorcycle donning a special chrome flavour, accompanied with a neat looking blacked out rear-end.

Team owner Dale Hocking is excited about the special aesthetics, stating the bikes have made a real point of difference in the arena, while also taking social media by storm in the lead-up to this evening’s fourth round of the Australian championship.

“It’s something different,” Hocking explained to MotoOnline.com.au. “Obviously we’re indoor and under lights, so it will stand out a lot more than anything else. We had a chat with a guy around the corner from my business who does chrome dipping, we gave him some stuff to try and he said he could do it.

“The Collective said they would try some clear backgrounds and do that. It’s come out well and it really stands out inside the stadium. Instagram’s gone silly about it – everyone’s commenting on how good the bikes do look. I think it’s great, great for the sport and something different. That’s what we need to do now.”

Mosig qualified sixth in the SX1 division and was the second Australian across the line this afternoon, while Todd was fourth fastest in the SX2 category’s qualifying session. Racing is set to kick-off at 6:45pm AEDT.
