Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki press release:
The Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki race team is preparing for the third instalment of the 2017 Australian Supercross Championship which is set to be staged at Virginia in South Australia this Saturday night.
After both SX1 riders Luke Wilson and Nick Schmidt raced to improved results at the team’s last outing in Victoria, the pair are feeling positive ahead of this weekend, and will be looking to impress thousands of spectators who are expected to turn out to the event.
American Shcmidt has shared that he’s settled in to life here in Australia and that he has one goal this weekend, to put Suzuki on the SX1 podium.
“We’ve had a good two weeks of training in between this round, and I’m looking forward to this weekend’s race,” Schmidt said.
“I feel as if I’ve settled in to Australia now, I’ve got a good routine going here and I know how everything works so it’s been beneficial to have some solid days at the track and head into this round nice and prepared.
“After last rounds result, we have proved we have the speed to be up there – I think in the main event in Melbourne I was third quickest so we just need to put it all together and hopefully we can put the Suzuki on the podium.”
For Wilson who finished just shy of the top ten two weeks ago, round three provides yet another opportunity to improve, and says that making progress is the goal for the Queenslander on Saturday night.
“I’m really looking forward to this weekend’s race in South Australia. The last round was a bit better than the first one – and my main focus is to make sure that I’m improving every weekend,” Wilson shared.
“It’s been a good two weeks on the bike for me, and I’m looking to finish inside that top ten – that’s the goal.
“Last year I had a bit of bad luck in Adelaide, so I’d like to finish this year’s event strong and with a positive result for myself and the team.”
The 2017 Australian Supercross Championship will continue with round three to be contested at Virginia in South Australia on Saturday October 28.
