DPH Motorsport press release:
It’s been confirmed this week that the injuries sustained in Bacchus Marsh to Hayden Mellross will sideline the championship contender for this weekends third round of the Australian Supercross Championship in Virginia, South Australia.
Hayden Mellross: “I’m really disappointed to not be on the bike this weekend. I wanted this SX2 title so much this year, but after missing out on points at round 2, and now round 3, I’m giving away a lot of points to my competitors in the championship. It’s frustrating to be sidelined without making a mistake, but the sport I love has an element of danger and these things happen. For now, I’ll focus on my recovery and supporting my team mate, Wilson Todd” said Mellross.
Team Owner, Dale Hocking: “We’re really disappointed that Hayden can’t race this weekend, he’s proved over the first 2 rounds that he is the fastest rider in the SX2 class but he needs time to heal, so that’s what he’ll be doing. We’ll now focus all our energy this weekend on Kade and Wilson who continue to show they have the pace to be at the front of the pack. Both riders have continued to improve and are more motivated than ever” said Dale. ”The way Wilson’s been riding in practice, all he needs is a good start and he’ll be a championship contender”.
Wilson Todd: “It’s been another strong few weeks for me, and every time I hit the track, I feel more comfortable” said Wilson. “I feel for Hayden , he was setting the pace in SX2, but it’s an opportunity for me and I’m focusing on the championship”.
Kade Mosig: “It’s been two weeks since round 2 and I’m excited to race” said Mosig. “I love supercross, racing under lights, being up close to the crowd, and I’m looking forward to showing Adelaide what I’ve got this weekend!” said an upbeat Kade Mosig. “I’ve been able to get some practice in under lights recently, which has been great to keep fine tuning my preparation.”
