Factory KTM rider takes home the Monster Million in Las Vegas.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Marvin Musquin has charged to three dominant race victories at the Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas, earning $1,000,000 in prize money for pulling off the triple-header.
In race one, it was Musquin who hit the front, crossing the line with a 5.234s lead over Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing duo Jason Anderson and Dean Wilson.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing newcomer Broc Tickle placed a respectable fourth followed by Jordan Smith (TLD Red Bull KTM), as former defending Monster Cup champion Eli Tomac (Monster Energy Kawasaki Factory Racing) and MXGP regular Tim Gajser (Team HRC) both experienced issues that ultimately ruled them out of the night.
The second outing once again saw Musquin storm into the lead, this time defeating Anderson by 3.334s as Tickle progressed to the top to finish in third. Smith edged out Wilson for fourth, and impressive performance keeping in mind he raced aboard the smaller capacity 250 four-stroke machine.
In the final showing, Musquin displayed his class, extending a comfortable advantage to wrap up the huge pay cheque. Anderson was second again for the third-consecutive time, finishing ahead of Wilson, who returned to the podium for the finale. Tickle and Justin Barcia – who raced aboard a privateer Honda – completed the top five.
Overall, it was Anderson who finished second behind Musquin, as Wilson was awarded third while being tied on points with Tickle, with Smith concluding the first five.
