Serco Yamaha’s Jackson Richardson will undergo further scans this week to determine the extent of a shoulder injury sustained in MX2 moto two at Shepparton.

After a mixed opening moto that saw him claim ninth, Richardson was in podium contention during the second encounter when an awkward crash put him out of the race.

Immediately clutching his shoulder and unable to resume, the reigning supercross champion underwent X-rays in hospital that afternoon, however no breaks were discovered. It’s expected that an MRI this week will confirm the extent of his injury.

“What a frustrating day,” Richardson said. “I struggled in race one, but made a couple of changes and I felt much better in race two. As I came onto the finish line straight, the front-end went from under me and hit the ground shoulder-first.

“I had it X-rayed and there appears to be no bone breaks, but I also need an MRI scan, which I will get this week to so if there is any other damage. Its sore now, but hopefully it’s just some bruising and I can get back on the bike ASAP.”

The injury of Richardson severely impacts his Motul MX Nationals title hopes upon return to Australian competition this year, entering round seven in P4 and just 19 points from red plate-holder Wilson Todd, but now fifth and 61 points out.
