After six action packed rounds, Shepparton in Victoria will have the opportunity to welcome the fastest motocross riders in Australia to town, when the seventh round of the Motul MX Nationals takes place in Shepparton this Sunday July 16.

Hundreds of athletes, as well as team and event personnel are set to roll in to the country Victorian venue for the third consecutive year this weekend, and with crunch time fast approaching in all championships, when bikes hit the track it will be time for riders to face off.

With just days until the championship heads to Shepparton, preparations for the events’ arrival are well underway, and today Series Promoter Kevin Williams shared that if you’re in for a weekend of adrenalin, then racing is the name of the game this Sunday.

“We are very excited to be heading back to Shepparton for round seven this weekend, and if the first six rounds this year are anything to go by, then Sunday is set to produce some of the best racing of the season,” Williams shared.

“Championships are tight in both the MXD and MX2 classes so the title chase is just getting started there, and currently we haven’t had a rider who’s been able to break our defending MX1 champion Dean Ferris’ round winning streak, so Shepparton could be a place of crucial moments in our championships.

“Shepparton has a huge number of motorcycling enthusiasts and the local council and its residents always support our series, so we’re expecting that healthy crowds will come to cheer on Australia’s best this weekend.”

As well as each of the major championship classes (MX1, MX2, & MXD) taking to the track at Shepparton on Sunday, the 125cc Gold Cup Senior category will also join Australia’s heavy hitters as the support class at Round 7.

“We had the first round of the 125cc Gold Cup class in Queensland earlier this year which was a great success. We had some good rider numbers and most of all some high profile retired riders who came out to get amongst it,” Williams shared.

“It’s a class that’s really meant to be a bit of fun, we have encouraged anyone with a 125cc powered motorbike sitting in the shed at home to come out and line up for a race, and so far all competitors have enjoyed every minute of racing in the newly developed category as they will at Shepparton.

“This weekend we have something for everyone at Round 7. Whether it’s supporting a local like Dylan Long, cheering on Australia’s best or you’re just a motorsport lover needing to get your racing fix, the Motul MX Nationals is an event for everyone, and we can’t wait to bring it back to Shepparton in Victoria this Sunday.”
