Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing has revealed the contract extensions of their youthful talents Thomas Kjer-Olsen and Thomas Covington, locking in their MX2 line-up for the 2018 season.

Currently third in the FIM Motocross World Championship MX2 standings, Kjer-Olsen signed a three-year extension that will see him through to the end of 2020.

The Danish rider is thrilled with the announcement, and believes remaining wth the factory outfit long-term will enhance his results.

“I’m over the moon to be continuing my career with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team,” said Kjer-Olsen. “I’ve been working really hard and the results we’ve been getting this year show we’re in a very good position.

“To remain with such a well-organised and professional team for another three ears, I strongly believe this will allow me to take my performances to an even higher level.”

As for Covington, he’ll remain with the squad for one more season in 2018. The American stated he’s excited to continue on with Husqvarna alongside his teammate, and feels they’ll be a strong force in the title hunt.

“I’m really excited to be staying with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing MX2 team and Jacky Martens for another year,” expressed Covington.

“Things have been going quite well for us and I believe there is a very strong connection with each member of our team. Together with my teammate Thomas I think we will make a very strong team for the coming season.”

Covington sits sixth in the standings with seven rounds remaining on the world championship calendar.
