Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac has won the opening round of the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at Hangtown after taking a convincing 1-1 moto sweep.

Tomac won both motos despite coming from the back in the second encounter, while Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM) went 2-2 for the runner-up.

Likewise, Josh Grant registered a consistent 3-3 scorecard for his first podium since 2013 in third overall, while Dean Wilson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) and Broc Tickle (RCH/Yoshimura/Suzuki) filled the top five. Multiple New Zealand champion Cody Cooper (Honda Racing) was credited 18th overall after finishing P14 in moto one.

In the 250 Class, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Zach Osborne earned the second overall win of his career with a dominant effort, sweeping both motos.

Behind the newly-crowned East Coast 250SX champion came Alex Martin (Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM) via 4-4 results, while in third was Aaron Plessinger (Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha).

The top five was completed by Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki duo Adam Cianciarulo, who was second in moto one, and Austin Forkner, as he was second in moto two. Former champion Jeremy Martin (GEICO Honda) factored on his way to third in moto two.
