Sherco Australia press release:
Sherco has revealed the new-look DSR Motul Pirelli Sherco Team ahead of the opening two rounds of the Australian Off-Road Championship that commences at Rawson in Victoria tomorrow.
Headlined by pro-class racers Andy Wilksch and Nic Tomlinson, The DSR Motul Pirelli Sherco Team is locked and loaded for the 12-round Championship that will see rounds one and two take place this Saturday and Sunday.
Wilksch will contest the ultra-competitive E2 Class aboard the world championship-winning Sherco 300 SEF-R while Tomlinson will race the 450 SEF-R in the Under-19 Class. Bolstering the Championship contending stocks for the DSR Team is Derek Grundy who will be a serious threat in the Master’s Class for riders over 45. Grundy will go into the season as the hot favourite after showing blistering pace in 2016 before injury hampered his season. The Tasmanian enduro racing veteran will again compete on a 300 SEF-R.
“We’re ready to go,” enthused DSR Manager Dave Suter. “The bikes are perfect. We’ve tested and we know our equipment is excellent. All three riders are capable of standing on the podium, the rest is up to them. Realistically, Andy and Nic can give the competition a good shake. We expect Nic to win his class. He’s fast and has talent. Last year he placed second in the Championship with multiple round wins. His bike this year is far superior to what he was on previously so the sky is the limit for him.
“Andy Wilksch will be a dark horse to many but we’ve seen the speed he has picked up since joining our Team. He loves the 300 SEF-R and if his enjoyment levels are any indication, we think he’ll earn the respect of his competitors this weekend.
“Derek is pretty much our Team captain. He’s experienced and lives to race bikes. He’s a great leader and really does lead by example. No excuses, well prepared and can adapt and overcome which makes him a true competitor. Our entire Team is adopting Derek’s mantra, ‘no excuses.’
