Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac has moved to within seven points of defending champion Ryan Dungey (Red Bull KTM) after winning in Detroit today.

The 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series is just heating up, 12 rounds into the season, as Tomac’s latest victory is his fourth in a row.

For the second week in succession it was early leader Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM) who crossed the line second, ahead of Dungey after he recovered from P7 on lap one.

Chad Reed (Monster Energy/Yamalube/Chaparral/Yamaha Financial Services/Yamaha) went down in a first turn pile-up and then crashed again prior to the halfway mark, ending his night.

In the drama-filled East Coast 250SX final it was Jordon Smith (Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM) who held on for his first-career win, fending off Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki teammates Joey Savatgy and Adam Cianciarulo.

Savatgy is now the points leader by nine over Smith, after previous red plate-holder Zach Osborne (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) went down in the first corner, pitted for repairs and then circulated to 18th.
