Range of youthful categories on the agenda across six rounds.
Australia’s hottest junior talents are gearing up to contest select Motul MX Nationals events this season with a number of support classes on offer for the 2017 season.
After receiving a record number of junior entrants in select events during 2016, series promoter Kevin Williams looks forward to another strong junior campaign with the 85cc Cup, 125cc and 250cc Junior support classes set to span over six rounds.
“We are just a few weeks away from kicking off the season in Victoria,” said Williams. “Already we are getting some great interest for our junior support classes.
“Last year we introduced new classes which were in line with what the FIM offer at the world championships, which initially we were wary about, but they were very well received and we’re hoping that we can fill the gates again with our support classes this season.”
Williams expects these select Motul MX Nationals events will allow young Australian riders a chance to refine their race craft in hopes of landing a spot representing their country at the 2018 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship in Horsham, Victoria.
“In 2018 the FIM Junior World Motocross Championships will be held in Australia so both the 125cc and 250cc support classes are a great training ground for those hoping to be a part of Team Australia,” he explained. “So we’re encouraging all competitors to get their entries in ASAP in order to secure their spots at the Motul MX Nationals.”
Wonthaggi’s season-opening Motul MX Nationals round on 2 April will see the 125cc Juniors support class hit the track for the first time in 2017.
