Honda-backed young gun sets sights on Atlanta supercross debut.
Highly-rated GEICO Honda newcomer Chase Sexton has announced that he will again reschedule his maiden appearance in the pro ranks, originally slated to make his 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship in Minneapolis’ East Coast 250SX opener.
Initially expected to make his debut at last year’s Unadilla Lucas Oil Pro Motocross round, the 2016 AMA Horizon Award winner was struck down with injury while preparing for the event.
Sexton’s injury woes continued later that year as he sustained two broken wrists while preparing for the 2017 supercross season last December, this latest setback again forcing the 17-year-old GEICO Honda talent to put his plans on hold.
“Unfortunately I will not be lining up this weekend for the first round of east coast in Minneapolis,” said Sexton. “I’m doing everything in my power to be 100 percent ready for Atlanta in two weeks! I will keep you guys posted, thanks for being patient!”
GEICO Honda will field a two-rider squad this weekend at the season opening round of the East Coast 250SX series with Christian Craig and RJ Hampshire aboard the factory-backed Honda CRF250R machines.
