Cool Air Kawasaki’s Troy Carroll and Cody Mackie both sit inside the top ten of the Monster Energy SuperX Championship after the fifth round of the series at Parramatta Stadium, Sydney on Saturday 14 November. Troy Carroll currently sits in 10th place while Cody Mackie strives for a top five finish to the series after his 7th place finish to the round reaffirms his 6th place standing in the Championship.

Cody Mackie turned many heads at the first round in Tasmania when he rocketed to the front of the pack on his KX450F and came very close to winning his first open grade race. Whilst he is yet to claim a race win in the series, Cody has continued to chip away at the Championship leader-board, gathering points as he consistently posts good results. Cody went 15-5-7 at Sydney throughout the 4 race survivor format just missing out on the final moto by two places. Cody finished the round in 7th place and sits in 6th place in the series.

Cody says, “I felt really good tonight. I don’t know what’s been up the past couple of rounds. I haven’t been getting the results I want and it’s been really really frustrating because everyone’s been noticing it because I almost won the first round. It was good to get back out there tonight. It was fun and I really haven’t been having much fun the last couple of weeks.”

“I’m really really excited about racing out of Australia next weekend. I’m looking to finish in the top five in the Championship.”

The 2009 SuperX series see the return of Troy Carroll after a lengthy period on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury. Whilst troy didn’t achieve the results he was hoping for in Sydney, the 12 time Australian Champion had improved his results at every round up until Parramatta, showing that with a bit of bike time under his belt, he is still a force to be reckoned with on the supercross track. Troy finished his first survival race at Sydney in 7th place on the KX450F to easily progress through to the next race however a crash in the second moto proved too costly in the short six lap race and Troy had to settle for 14th place for the race and the round.

Troy says, “My results were getting better and better each round but it didn’t work out tonight. I got a good result in the first but got knocked off the start in the second and couldn’t get back to the front against such fast guys. I’m looking forward to New Zealand. I’ve raced there before and I like the place. I’ve got to get out there and get some more points up in this Championship.”

Cool Air Kawasaki Team Manager Kevin Crutcher says, “We were looking good. The boys rode well but our starts kind of let us down unfortunately. We’ll be ready to rock n’ roll in New Zealand.

Both Troy and Cody will be giving it their all at the sixth round of the Monster Energy SuperX Championship on this Saturday 21 November at Hamilton, New Zealand.
