Peick, Martin and Bowers all forced out of Phoenix night show.
Three more leading Monster Energy AMA Supercross riders were sidelined during the afternoon practices in Arizona last weekend, with Weston Peick, Jeremy Martin and Tyler Bowers all ruled out of the night show and potentially longer.
JGRMX Suzuki’s Peick, who was sixth in 450SX points following the opening three rounds, crashed heavily in the first practice and was taken to hospital under observation with suspected wrist fracture.
“Weston Peick suffered a hard crash in the first practice session and was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation,” a statement from JGR read. “He was unable to compete in Phoenix. His injuries and time needed for recovery will be updated this week, however it does appear he will need at least several weeks to heal.”
West Coast 250SX contender Martin, meanwhile, was concussed in an incident with Bowers during qualifying and sat out the round as a precaution. The GEICO Honda rider will be reevaluated before Oakland’s fifth stop of the season this weekend.
Bowers was more severely injured in the Phoenix crash, fracturing his femur and joining Australian 51Fifty Energy Drink Yamaha teammate Hayden Mellross on the bench. It’s not certain when either will be able to return.
The fields have taken a substantial hit already in the 2017 season, with the likes of Ken Roczen, Trey Canard, Justin Barcia, Justin Bogle, Mitchell Oldenburg and more all forced to miss events through injury four rounds in.
