Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Colton Haaker dominated the second round of the 2016/2017 MAXXIS FIM SuperEnduro World Championship in Reisa, Germany, last weekend.

The American recorded three commanding Prestige Final victories, allowing him take control of the championship following the retirement of former points leader Taddy Blazusiak, who called time on his career at the conclusion of 2016.

“It’s awesome to have had such a great night here in Germany, and to be leading the championship now,” Haaker shared. “I’ll be honest, I didn’t feel great on the track tonight and didn’t feel like I rode that well for the most part.

“But I got good starts, put down fast laps, and got the results I needed. I struggled with a little arm pump but apart from that things went well. I’ve spent a fair amount of time riding since the first race in Poland, but because we’ve had so much rain in California my endurocross track’s been flooded.”

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing duo Alfredo Gomez and Jonny Walker completed the podium in second and third respectively after trading positions in the first two finals, although it was Gomez who held the upper hand in third final of the night. The pair now sit second and third behind Haaker in the championship standings.

Sherco’s Mario Roman raced to fourth overall, while Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Pascal Rauchenecker rounded out the top five in fifth.

Round three of the MAXXIS FIM SuperEnduro World Championship is scheduled to take place on 4 March, in Bilbao, Spain.
