Yamaha racing kicked off the opening day of the 2016 Australian Four Day Enduro in fine style taking the top two positions outright, had three riders inside the top five and leading four championship classes in a strong showing for the blue brand.

Over 115 riders roared off in dry and dusty conditions near Mansfield in Victoria for day one of the prestigious Australian Four Day Enduro. With a star- studded field including current world champions and international riders, it will be a huge test of man and machine to determine a winner of the next four days of grueling racing.

CDR Yamaha’s Daniel Milner led the way and takes a nine second lead heading into day two over teammate and good friend, Chris Hollis, who sits in second. Milner won four of the five special tests conducted today and put himself in a great position to defend his A4DE crown for the fifth time in a row.

Hollis proved as classy and consistent as ever, racking up good times in each of the special tests to shadow his team mate all day. The wily veteran has won before at the A4DE and like a shark in the water, he is circling early and in position to pounce on the leader.

Milner and Hollis also hold down first and second respectively in the E2 (450cc) division.

Josh Green, on his Active8 Yamaha WR250FX, slotted into fifth place outright in a good return to racing after several months on the sideline with injury. Green also leads the way in the E1 class (250cc), holding a 16 second gap back to second place after day 1. Yamaha mounted riders Riley Graham and Stefan Granquist also made productive starts to the event and hold down fourth and fifth respectively.

The Women’s class was again a Yamaha domination with Tayla Jones leading the way on her Active8 Yamaha, ahead of fellow Yamaha riders, Jemma Wilson and Jess Gardiner. In fact, the first four riders are all on board Yamaha as Emelie Karlsson currently lies in fourth position on her WR250F.

There is also another Yamaha quinella in the Veteran’s class with Dylan Rees taking the lead on day one ahead of Kirk Hutton in second.

The only downer of the day came when Tom McCormack took a nasty fall and was unable to finish the day. An update of Tom’s condition will be available in the coming days.
