New South Welshman expecting to be at 100 percent health by Melbourne.
Current Australian supercross SX2 series leader Hayden Mellross is not concerned that a knee injury sustained while training in the lead-up to last weekend’s third round will hinder his championship campaign.
The DPH Motorsport rider, who claimed victory in Adelaide on Saturday night and extended his advantage in the championship standings to 10 points, underwent extensive physiotherapy prior to the weekend’s event.
“It’s definitely nothing to be concerned about,” Mellross explained to MotoOnline.com.au. “I hit my knee the Wednesday after Toowoomba, it wasn’t very good and it definitely didn’t feel good.”
“I’m lucky enough to have a great physiotherapist in my hometown that slotted me in three or four times a week between when I did it and here. He looked after me well and got it to where I didn’t feel it at all.”
With only a one week turnaround until Melbourne’s fourth round which is followed by Sydney’s double-header the weekend after, the New South Welshman is adamant he’ll be at 100 percent health once receiving further treatment to conclude the season.
“I’ll go back and do my training this week, I’ll probably see my physiotherapist another two or three times,” he continued. “I could imagine it will be 100 percent and ready to go by Melbourne with probably no taping at all. I’ll be ready to rock and roll and keep this championship going.”
Mellross’ commanding win at the Adelaide Showgrounds signified that the injury hasn’t hampered his performance, while it also marked his maiden victory in professional racing.
