Sales already around 10 percent up ahead of event's second running.
A sell-out crowd for Saturday night’s show of the 2016 AUS-X Open has signified a positive fan response to the event in its second year running at Syndey’s Qudos Bank Arena.
AME Management director Adam Bailey revealed to MotoOnline.com.au that the AUS-X Open has seen an approximate 10 percent increase in ticket sales, with more than 40 percent of fans travelling interstate for the prestigious event.
“It has definitely been well received,” Bailey explained. “We’re probably 10 percent up from last year in terms of people numbers, which is awesome. More than 40 percent of people attending the event are from outside of New South Wales – people are coming from all over Australia and even internationally, so we couldn’t be happier about that.”
Sunday’s edition, which will host the final round of the Australian Supercross Championship, is estimated to attract 10,000 fans into the 14,000 capacity arena in what is slated to be a family friendly afternoon show.
“Sunday is the same show as Saturday night, it just has a different type of appeal,” he continued. “Sunday afternoon is more of a family friendly day, particularly for kids who can’t stay up as late for Saturday night’s show. I think Sunday night would be a bit rough for people getting up for work on Monday morning.”
Coming off a successful AUS-X Open in 2015, Bailey admits that AME Management has worked significantly hard across several areas of the event ensure a greater fan experience for the 2016 edition.
“We definitely haven’t been resting on it and doing the same thing, we’ve had to work really hard to try and raise the bar. That’s from securing the riders that we have to improving our pyrotechnics, music from DJ Brooke Evers and even new big screens inside the venue – there’s no doubt we’re going to blow people away if they thought 2015 was good,” he added.
Scheduled to take place on 12-13 November, the 2016 AUS-X Open has locked in headlining riders Ryan Villopoto, Cooper Webb and Australia’s very own Chad Reed amongst the country’s supercross regulars.
The Monster Energy FMX Best Trick contest will run alongside the international supercross race, with Clinton Moore, Jackson Strong and Tom pages confirmed to lay it on the line for a $120,000 prize purse. Further FMX rider announcements are expected to be made.
