Australian champion seeking international seat in EWC.
Multiple Australian Four-Day Enduro champion and former victor of the Australian Off-Road Championship Daniel Milner has returned home to Australia after coming to an agreement to part ways with the N-Fab AmPro Yamaha team in America.
Milner contested America’s premier off-road championship, the Amsoil Grand National Cross-Country (GNCC) series, for the team in 2015 and the first half of 2016 before suffering a leg injury at the seventh round, ultimately ending his season in GNCC.
The Victorian revealed the news to MotoOnline.com.au today, stating that he experienced difficulties with the outfit over the two-year period that he was in the US.
“The main thing is the team over there and I parted ways,” Milner explained. “It’s been a bit of a struggle with the team over pretty much the past two years to be honest. After I broke my leg, we made the decision to stay home and train for the International Six-Day Enduro (ISDE) and Australian Four-Day Enduro (A4DE).”
While Milner is left without an international ride, he confirmed that he will still receive support from Yamaha Motor Australia and CDR Yamaha for the ISDE and A4DE.
“I’m still riding for Yamaha Motor Australia, which Craig Dack has built a bike for me to race the ISDE and the A4DE. So I’m still under Dacka’s wing for that kind of stuff.”
The 25-year-old hasn’t called an end to his international career, as he is seeking a fulltime ride in the prestigious Enduro World Championship.
“At this stage, I don’t want to come back and ride in Australia, you know, to do the AORC series. I’m trying get a gig in the Enduro World Championship, but at the moment it’s still in the works and just trying to get over there to race the world rounds,” he continued.
Milner will make his racing return in Spain next month as he represents Australia at the ISDE.
