Honda Genuine Racing team owner Yarrive Konsky is adamant that the outfit will remain as a supercross-only team in 2017 following a successful weekend at the opening round of the 2016 Australian Supercross Championship.

Konsky isn’t ruling out a potential return to both motocross and supercross, however his commitment to a role in Australia’s premier auto racing series Supercars in 2017, could mean we won’t see that eventuate until further in the future.

“I’ll continue working in Supercars for 2017, however I’ll maintain running a supercross race team for many years to come,” Konsky told MotoOnline.com.au. “At this stage I’m committed to racing supercross-only, however I would be stupid if the right opportunity presented itself and I didn’t look at it. With that said, I’ll be committed to a Supercars program next year.”

After being involved in the sport for almost three decades, the Victorian team owner stated that it’s important for him to expand his experience in alternative industries, in which he wishes to apply to motorcycle racing at a later stage.

“Since my inception to motorcycle sport at the age of 12, I’ve dedicated my life to racing, the riders and the industry. An opportunity came up this year to work in motorsport, but in a different discipline,” he continued.

“That opportunity has broadened my horizons and taught me some valuable lessons, some of which I may bring to the sport in the future. I still have a great deal to learn and unfortunately motorcycle sport is such a niche market that the ability to broaden my experience and knowledge is limited.”

The Honda Genuine Race team recorded a double victory at Jimboomba’s opening round with Justin Brayton claiming the SX1 main event victory, while Gavin Faith (Penrite Honda) was awarded the win in the SX2 class.
