WOODSTOCK HONDA:

Woodstock Honda Thor Racing’s Dan Reardon has held onto his overall lead in the Australasian SuperX series after a night of high drama and emotion at Canberra stadium.

In the top ten shootout held prior to the triple challenge finals, it was a mixed bag for the team with “The King” of SuperX Jeremy McGrath sent out first on a freshly watered track and did enough to ensure he was able to start in clean nylons.

Series leader Dan Reardon sounded an early warning to fellow competitors, putting in a huge effort  to take the number one position in the shootout.

In heat one Reardon dominated taking the win with fellow Woodstock Honda Thor Racing’s Todd Waters making a triumphant return from injury in eight place.

Jeremy McGrath was less fortunate during the heats, but was able to force his way into the finals rounds as one of two riders in the last chance qualifier race.

Once the first of the Triple Challenge races began, McGrath showed his class early on after coming out of turn two in second position. Dan Reardon settled into third with Todd Waters back in 11th position.

At the end of the first final it was Chad Reed from Jay Marmont and Jeremy McGrath. Reardon was fourth with Todd Waters in 14th.

In the second race, The Woodstock Honda Thor Racing boys had it all to do with Reardon back in seventh, Waters 14th and McGrath getting involved in a tangle which left him back in 19th position.

At the finish, all of the boys had improved their earlier positions with Reardon up to fifth, Waters 12th and McGrath 16th.

Race three saw Reardon yet again fail to come out of turn one in the lead as he has so many times this season. What was pleasing was the fact that he was upright and still eighth – something Chad Reed was not after coming to grief early.

Reardon completed the third race in fifth place with McGrath and Waters in seventh and eighth respectively.

But the night belonged to Jay Marmont, who took the final race, the round and the crowd’s thoughts and wishes after a tragic week for his family and friends.

It was great to see Todd back on the bike and his results were better than expected and I think we’ll see more from him in the remaining rounds.
