The Yamalube Yamaha Racing development squad will make the move to the SX2 category for the upcoming 2016 Australian Supercross Championship with Mitch Evans and Jordan Hill aboard Yamaha YZ250F machines.

Due to the SXD category not proceeding in this years’ supercross championship, Yamaha’s official development team made the decision to move both riders to SX2 to fast track their supercross skills according to team manager, Scott Bishop.

“We enter this years’ championship with no serious expectations and plan on just working with the riders to increase their supercross knowledge and skills,” said Bishop.

“The SX2 class is pretty competitive and while I know our guys are very capable, it is the established riders who need to lock down the results while we give our guys valuable track time and experience to learn their craft.”

Both Evans and Hill enter their first SX2 season with a strong supercross background, Evans claiming the 2015 SXD title and Hill capturing one round win during last years season after earning the junior supercross title in 2014.

The Yamalube Yamaha Racing squad will make their SX2 debut this weekend at Jimboomba for round one of the 2016 Australian Supercross Championship.
