Sherco wins Australian Off-Road Championship

Sherco Australia press release:

Motul Pirelli Sherco Factory Team rider Wil Ruprecht has claimed the 2016 Australian Off-Road Championship EJ title at the final round in Penshurst, Victoria. Ruprecht took his Sherco 450SEF-R to glory in wet and extremely muddy conditions to give the Motul Pirelli Sherco Factory Team their maiden Australian Championship.

Ruprecht has been the form rider in the EJ class for riders under 19 years all season and has capped off an excellent Championship in the best possible fashion. The class is open to all capacity machines and Ruprecht’s standout result has proven the Sherco 450SEF-R is the best bike in the competition.

“Even though I had a bit of a lead coming into this weekend’s final rounds you never know what can happen in off-road racing,” Ruprecht said after claiming the championship. “As it turned out this weekend was really muddy racing which sorts out the men from the boys and I rode a bit like a boy this time. But we got it wrapped up. The Team did a great job all season and my bike has been amazing. I’m now looking forward the Four Day now where I’m hoping for a good outright result and to land on the podium in my class.”

Ruprecht’s win came as sweet reward for the Motul Pirelli Sherco Factory Team who have now claimed an Australian Championship in just their second year of AORC competition.

“This Championship is well deserved,” said Team coordinator Dave Suter. “Wil has worked hard for this. He’s a great rider with a level of maturity beyond his years. He’s a pleasure to work with and to see him bring home this title is great for him personally and for the Team.”

Ruprecht will steer his attention toward competing at the Australia Four Day Enduro this coming November.
