Brierley brothers dominate with Kawasaki KX250F at the Australian Off-Road Championship
Kawasaki Motors Australia press release:
Kawasaki KX Junior Squad members and reigning Australian off road junior champions, Mitch and Josh Brierley continued their standout form aboard their Kawasaki KX250F motorcycles in challenging conditions at Headley, Victoria over the weekend.
The circuit had been subjected to heavy rain prior to the event, however tough racing in muddy conditions didn’t discourage Josh Brierley who turned up the heat by making a flawless comeback after signing off at round 1 of the championship due to a broken wrist. Taking out the J3 class in both rounds 7 and 8 on Saturday and Sunday respectively, the KX Junior Squad member subsequently claimed the number one spot overall for the weekend across the Juniors. Unfortunately due to his round 1 incident, Josh’s championship points tally started from zero, however he is already into 6th place on the championship leaderboard following his efforts over the weekend.
“I am feeling pretty good. The weekend went great and it was really good to get back on the top step of the podium after a long break,” Josh said.
“It turned out to be an awesome weekend, we came away with the win both days which is really good.”
“I missed out on the first four rounds because I broke my wrist so to get more round wins and time on the bike is great, and I am having fun,” Josh Brierley concluded.
Twin brother, Mitch Brierley proved his ability to adapt to the tricky conditions in both the cross country format on Saturday and the sprint layout on Sunday. Coming into the weekend in 2nd place overall for the J3 class, Mitch’s objective was to close the gap between himself and the class leader.
With only his brother Josh in front of him on both days, Mitch secured second place in the J3 class and he achieved his goal of becoming the leader of the J3 class.
Both KX Junior Squad members will continue training intently with their KX250F motorcycles in the lead up to the upcoming 9th and 10th rounds of the Australian Off Road Championships which are due to be held on August 13th to 14th at Monkerai, NSW.
