Yamaha Motor Australia press release:
NSW YJR rider Michael Driscoll enjoyed a solid weekend of racing at round three of the New South Wales Motocross Championships over the weekend. At a rain soaked Lakes track the event began in sloppy conditions and slowly improved over the two days of the event.
With little to no rain falling during the actual racing and clear skies for the second day the event rolled along well and provided some of the best racing of the year. A three way battle ensued in every moto over the weekend in both the 125 and 250 classes with Driscoll fighting to second place overall on both his YZ 125 and YZ 250F.
“That was a fun weekend of racing, there were some great battles and although I would prefer to be one step higher on the podium I’m happy with how it went. I think we all made a mistake as some point and probably all had a shot at winning, so I’ll keep working and try to learn from this weekend for next time.”
YJR NSW team manager Shane Booth praised Driscoll’s efforts. “That was some of the best junior racing I’ve seen in a long time this weekend, nothing came easily for Mick and he had to really fight for the whole 15 minutes of every moto which he did very well.
“A couple of little mistakes probably cost him a win but that happens when you are pushing as hard as these kids were. I think he is really close to piecing a full weekend together and when he does I’m sure he’ll find himself on the top step,” Booth ends.
YJR NSW would like to thank the following sponsors for their ongoing support. Yamaha Motor Australia, Fox Racing, GYTR, Yamalube, Pirelli, RK Chains, ODI Handlebars & Grips, MotoKit Graphics, Acerbis
