KTM Motocross Racing Team rider Jesse Dobson will miss this weekend’s Nowra Motul MX Nationals round due to a broken hand sustained in a training incident last week Tuesday.

It’s another tough blow for the MX1 contender as his bad luck continues after fracturing his pelvis while training for Appin’s second round of the series back in April.

“I was at a practice track last Tuesday and I was working on some sprint speed,” said Dobson. “I landed off a single and there was a wet spot that caught my front wheel and threw me on the ground. I thought it would be fine, I thought I’d just corked my hand, but Kyle and the team came up to rebuild my bike two days later and they said to go get an x-ray. I did and before I even saw the doctor, the lady said yep, it’s broken! I just couldn’t believe it.”

The 19-year-old is confident that the decision to miss this weekend’s sixth round of the series will be the best choice with a short healing process expected.

“These things don’t take too long to heal, so we looked at our options and the best way to go was to miss this weekend and try and be 100 percent healthy for Conondale and come out swinging there,” he added. “The team wants me riding 100 percent at the front of the pack rather than at 50 percent at the back of the pack. So we are better off missing this one and being healthy for the rest. We’ll heal up and be ready for Conondale.”

Dobson’s planned return round, Conondale’s seventh round of the 2016 championship, is scheduled to take place on 17 July.
