Febvre set to continue world motocross career with renewed Yamaha contract.

Current FIM Motocross World Champion Romain Febvre will remain a household name on the MXGP circuit following the announcement of his three-year deal with factory Yamaha.
Contacted by multiple manufacturers offering strong contract offers, Febvre recently made the decision to re-sign with Yamaha through 2019 removing any chances of a switch to the American motocross scene, or any other championships around the world in the near future.
“I cannot talk too much about this [the contract specifics] but for sure I should stay in Europe for the next three years at least,” he said. “I had Honda, Suzuki and Husqvarna interested, it is not easy to make a choice like this and it was not for one year but for the future. We had a long chat with my agent and I am happy I made the best decision.”
Febvre’s new contract now includes the opportunity to race select international one-off events when the Frenchman’s busy racing and testing schedule allows.
“We have three races we can do of our own choice and two from Yamaha,” he added. “If it goes well then normally that will mean Japan [Sugo] and the Supermotocross Cup for Yamaha. And for me it will probably be supercross; depending in the time we have in the winter between tests and a small holiday if possible.”
Febvre currently sits second overall in the 2016 MXGP standings as he attempts to defend his maiden premier class world title.
