MONSTER ENERGY:
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Chad Reed is confident that further training and bike testing will have him well-positioned to take victory at Perth’s Burswood Dome this Saturday, the site of round 3 of Super X.
The red plate will return to Reed’s KX450F this weekend after a solid win at Geelong.
The 25-point haul elevated the defending champion to the top of the Open standings, a position he is eager to build on.
Reed said he was quickly coming to grips with the Kawasaki machine and acknowledged his team’s hard work between rounds.
“In a short space of time we’ve made good progress with the bike and developed a solid base to work with,” said Reed.
“Each time I go out there I feel that little bit more confident and can push that little bit harder.
“Consistency will be the key this weekend. The heat races take the form of 5-lap sprints so it will be important to get good starts.
“The same can be said for the final which is only 8 laps – it keeps the field bunched and the competition intense.
“I’m feeling good and am going to Perth to win.”
Reed leads the premier class by a point with five rounds yet to run. He was third at the opening round where he made his world debut with Monster Energy Kawasaki.
