Raceline Pirelli KTM press release:
Raceline Pirelli KTM’s Dylan Wills took valuable lessons out of round five of the MX Nationals at Wanneroo yesterday, racing to solid top ten results in the MX2 class at what his first ever outing at the Western Australian venue.
With Wills flying the Raceline Pirelli KTM flag solo over the weekend, the team went in to round five with the goal to achieve improved results, and the KTM mounted rider took to the challenging sand well.
In race one, Wills raced to 10th position in what were some of the toughest track conditions he’s raced so far in his career, while in race two and three Wills took impressive 8th and 9th placed finishes, rewarding him and the team with 8th overall.
With the MX Nationals now commencing the mid-season break, Wills sits in a healthy 8th position in the MX2 championship standings with five rounds of racing remaining.
Dylan Wills – MX2 (10th, 8th, 9th) 8th Overall
“I started off pretty well at Wanneroo – I managed to make some passes, but I just struggled with some arm pump in the last moto,” Will shared.
“Overall, the round was sort of what I expected. You sort of had to have raced at Wanneroo to really do well, and it was my first time racing there. It really was a next level track.
“We took a lot of lessons out of round five, and next time we race there I’m definitely going to know what I’m in for.
“All in all I got 8th overall, which isn’t exactly where I want to be, but we’re getting better each round and I’m working on the intensity side of things, so I’m looking forward to the mid-season break and getting back to racing at Nowra in five week’s time.”
Chris Woods – Raceline Pirelli KTM Team Manager
“It wasn’t a bad round for us. Dylan hadn’t raced at Wanneroo before, so for any rider, racing a track like they did on the weekend would have been a big learning curve,” he said.
“We are happy to see him making progress every week, and this mid-season break will allow him to work on those little one per centers, so he can feel even stronger going in to the second half of the season.
“The last two back to back rounds have been a challenge to say the least (laughs) but we’re lucky enough to have great sponsors and team staff who make coming to the races very enjoyable, so all in all it’s another positive weekend in the books.
“We’re happy to have the toughest race of the year out of the way, so we can take a bit of a break, and regroup before heading to the sixth round at Nowra.”
Raceline Pirelli KTM, will now commence the mid-season break, with Round 6 of the 2016 MX Nationals at Nowra in New South Wales being held on July 3, 2016.
