Factory Suzuki MX1 contender to miss round two of the Motul MX Nationals.
Wilson’s Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki Race Team’s Luke Wilson will miss this weekend’s Appin round of the 2016 Motul MX Nationals due to a back injury sustained at the season opener.
Under the guidance of his chiropractor, the factory Suzuki MX1 contender has elected to sit out the event to avoid further setbacks and time away from the races.
“I saw the chiropractor this morning, and he just said that if I race this weekend, I’m going to be back to square one and I’ll be off the bike again for two weeks,” said Wilson. “So I’ve really got no choice but to sit this round out.”
Wilson attempted to ride through the injury but admits he was unable to perform at the level needed in the hotly contested category. The Queenslander is hopeful for a Broadford round three return.
“I’ve only been on the bike twice since Horsham, and one ride was ok, but the second ride was similar to what Appin will be like and I just wasn’t able to ride the way I needed to,” he added. “I’m just going to stay home and rest it, and hopefully that will allow me to get back into it for round three at Broadford.”
Teammate Todd Waters will fly the flag for the Wilson’s Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki Race Team at this weekend’s event, currently sitting fifth overall in the premier class points standings.
