Slimmest of margins results in perfect weekend for KTM racer.
KTM Enduro Racing Team’s Daniel Sanders has inched to back-to-back Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship round wins on Sunday in Kilkivan, Queensland.
After taking a career-first Outright victory on Sunday, Sanders backed it up with a slim 0.999s advantage after six hard-fought tests over Josh Green (Active8 Yamaha) this afternoon.
While E3 class victory Sanders bettered E2 winner Green for the second overall win of the year, it was Lachlan Stanford (Husqvarna Enduro Racing Team) who made it dual Outright podiums in third.
Sanders won the E3 category over Stanford, while Beau Ralston on the second of the Active8 Yamahas raced to third in class during round two.
In the E2 ranks it was last year’s E1 champion Green who too the brand new WR450F to the Sunday win, from Sanders’ factory teammate Tye Simmonds (KTM Enduro Racing Team) and Chris Hollis (CDR Yamaha).
An new winner emerged in the E1 ranks today, motocross convert Jack Simpson, who won on board his KTM from Riley Graham (Yamaha) and Stefan Granquist (Yamaha). Round one winner Scott Keegan (Yamaha) claimed fourth.
Another fresh class winner this afternoon was Nic Tomlinson, who bettered Sherco rider Wil Ruprecht in the highly competitive 19 and Under division, while Peter-Daniel Allan rounded out the podium.
Yamaha-mounted Jemma Wilson made it two wins in a row for the Women’s, today ahead of Jessica Gardiner (Yamaha) and Emelie Karlsson (Yamaha). Remaining class winners for Sunday’s second round included Kirk Hutton (Vets) and Derek Grundy (Masters).
