Team Rockstar Motul Suzuki rider Jake Moss has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2009 Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, after undergoing surgery on his broken wrist yesterday afternoon.
American-based Moss has had pins inserted in the broken bone that was injured in the Launceston Super X round last Saturday night, speaking to MotoOnline.com.au just hours before going under the knife in a disappointing finish to his season.
“It’s disappointing for me,” said Moss, who remains in hospital in Tasmania. “I was hoping to have a good Super X season and I felt good on the bike, but it just wasn’t to be for this year, I guess.”
Moss was widely considered a favourite for the Pro Open class in this year’s title chase, returning from a successful AMA Motocross campaign in the States and signing for Suzuki Australia alongside defending Pro Lites Champion and brother, Matt.
Despite the set back, Moss remains optimistic that he can bounce back from injury once again and is hoping to be back riding again in around six to eight weeks.
