Aussie legend makes mid-season return to the podium.
Aboard his Monster Energy/360fly/Chaparral/Yamaha Factory Racing YZ450F, Chad Reed made a strong mid-season return to the 450SX podium at round eight of the 2016 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship.
Following a second place performance at Anaheim’s round three of the series, the Australian legend admits he has been disappointed in his sub-par performances leading up to his third place Atlanta finish.
“I’ve been disappointed since Oakland to be honest, I had a look in the mirror this week and made changes to myself a little bit,” Reed told PulpMX.com. “We did make little changes to the bike here and there, but honestly it’s just been me.”
Although back on the podium, the former multi-time champion believes he is yet to reach his full potential in 2016, confirming he has more left in the tank.
“I just want to give 100 percent, even though we’re on the podium, I don’t believe that’s my 100 percent,” he added. “I’m still better than that, those guys were right there and they weren’t really doing anything amazing, so I still feel like there’s a little more in the tank.”
Reed currently sits fifth overall in the 450SX standings, 59 points behind series leader and defending champion Ryan Dungey.
