Motorex KTM Racer Kade Mosig has had a year of challenges with injury taking him out of the Australian Motocross Championship early when he was seemingly at the top of his game.   Taking months to recover, Mosig was only able to return to the Motocross Championship at the last round, and therefore set his sights on preparing for the 2009 Monster Energy Super X Championship, which began on 17 Oct in Tasmania.

As round two of the Monster Energy Super X Championship heads to his home state of Victoria this Saturday 24 October, Mosig feels confident that local support from Geelong fans will give him the boost he is looking for to reach the podium.

“When I ride into Geelong’s Skilled Stadium I know I will have the locals cheering me on, they always support their home state riders,” said Mosig.   “Hearing the crowd get behind you in a race always gives you more of a competitive edge, because it’s like you’re racing for them as well as yourself.

“I didn’t get the best of starts at round one of Super X in Launceston, so I’m wanting to improve at Geelong.  I raced on the KTM 250 SX-F in the Pro Lites with two 8 lap finals.  In the first, I was pushed wide in turn one, and had to battle through the field to finish eighth. In the second final, I got a much better start, and was holding a solid position until I came together with another rider in the air on a rhythm section which put me on the deck.  I finished five points out of the top ten, and I’m confident that I can easily make up that points tally and get in the game at Geelong.

“I will be doing a lot of testing around Geelong on the KTM 250 SX-F with Motorex KTM Racing leading up to this weekend, and I’ll be out meeting the local fans as well.

“Myself and team mates Tye Simmonds and Dylan Long will be going to Moto Tech KTM in Geelong on Friday (23 Oct) between 5pm and 6pm to sign autographs and give-away tickets to Saturday nights event.”

While Mosig prepares for cracking the podium in the Pro Lites class, team mate Tye Simmonds is determined to chip away on his own position in the Pro Open class, as he enters only his second ever competitive race on the KTM 450 SX-F.

Simmonds 17 years old from Bourke, NSW placed fifth in the Pro Open at the opening round of Super X in Tasmania, against riders many years his senior with far more experience.  He is the youngest factory racer in the Pro Open class.  In 2008 Simmonds placed second in the Pro Lites class of Super X, and now looks to break the podium in his first year of Pro Open racing.

Junior Lites racers will also be making an appearance at the Geelong Super X with GMR Motorex KTM team rider, Dylan Long entered to race on the KTM 150 SX.  Long from Benella in Victoria placed third at the World Junior Motocross Championship in New Zealand back in August, and is looking to now make an impact on the supercross scene.
