The Husqvarna Enduro Racing Team will enter the 2016 Australian off-road season with an updated racing program as both returning riders Glenn Kearney and Lachlan Stanford take on the challenge of new classes this year.

According to national race teams manager Rob Twyerould, the goal for 2016 was to have riders from both the Husqvarna and KTM brands in each and every off-road category.

In addition to having the riders utilising the expansive range of motorcycles available to them in each class, off-road veteran Kearney will continue in the role of both team manager and team rider with the factory Husqvarna team for 2016.

Kearney, who earned the 2014 E3 Australian Off-Road Championship with Husqvarna, will switch to the E1 category, while remaining teammate Stanford makes the move from the E2 class to E3.

“We wanted to cover every class [between Husqvarna and KTM], because last year we had a bit of overlap,” Twyerould told MotoOnline.com.au. “So on the Husqvarna side Lachlan is going to ride E3 on the FE 500 and Glenn is going to drop back to the E1 class on the FE 250 and also manage the Husqvarna team again.”

To compliment the changes made within the Husqvarna team, KTM Enduro Racing Team’s Tye Simmonds and Daniel Sanders will contest the E2 and E3 classes respectively – Simmonds piloting a 450 EXC, while Sanders opts to go the two-stroke route aboard the 300 EXC.
