Despite being edged out by title rival Kyle Webster in both motos at Appin, CDR Monster Energy Yamaha’s Jed Beaton says he’s ‘not too disappointed,’ maintaining the red plate with a 15-point advantage in the national MX1 championship.

In what was another head-to-head battle for the win between the pair, Webster made the pass in both motos and went on to deliver a 1-1 scorecard, while Beaton settled for second on each occasion.

“It was a pretty solid day, to be fair,” Beaton told MotoOnline. “I’m not too disappointed. Obviously, the result wasn’t what I wanted – second in both motos, right behind Kyle – I felt like I was riding good today.

“It was really hard to make a pass, but I made one happen, then obviously got into a bunch of lappers who I just tried to ride around the outside of. Obviously my mistake, which is unfortunate.

“I rode around the outside of that corner twice and both times it didn’t work out. We’ll regroup, I’m looking forward to Gillman. I like that track and yeah, I’ve got a positive outlook for there.”

Beaton leads the MX1 standings on 91 points, ahead of Luke Clout (76), Webster (75), and Nathan Crawford (73) heading into round three at Gillman.
