Scans on Monday reveal the worst for reigning Supercross champion.
A torn ACL and meniscus has prematurely ended Jett Lawrence’s Monster Energy Supercross title defence, ruled out of the remainder of the 2025 series after injuring his knee in Glendale and requiring immediate surgery.
Lawrence, 21, will have his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repaired in Orange County, California, on Tuesday morning after MRI scans confirmed the worst, now facing a minimum of what he says should be four months of recovery time.
“I got the results today and I ended up tearing my ACL,” Lawrence explained. “It is cooked, in other words, and [there’s] a slight tear in my meniscus, so I’m going for surgery tomorrow at 11:30am to get that fixed up. I think four months off the bike is the recovery time that the doctor said, so it’s not ideal.
“I was really bummed, I was hoping the worst would be bone bruising, but sadly not. I just want to shout out everyone – the fans, especially the team… we’ve been working hard to get this bike better and it was feeling good on the weekend. It’s sad, but we’ll come back stronger and healthier for – fingers crossed – maybe outdoors. But, we’ll see.”
After qualifying quickest and finishing second in the opening two Triple Crown races at State Farm Stadium, the Honda HRC Progressive rider exited the final encounter after dabbing his right foot in the second turn. Initial evaluations were positive, before scans revealed the actual extent of his Lawrence’s knee damage.
