America the goal for talented New Zealander.
A decision to stay and defend his MX2 title in the 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship has been detailed by Polyflor Honda Racing’s Brodie Connolly, but he intends to race in America full-time from next year.
While there was speculation that the New Zealand talent could head to Europe for the MX2 World Championship, his strong AUSX campaign has made a direct move to America with Quad Lock Honda a more likely option, given his success with the team’s Australian outfit.
“It was probably more my decision to stay here,” Connolly told MotoOnline. “There definitely was talk about going straight to America after Melbourne and racing some supercross.
“I kind of made the decision myself. It had been a massive year, and I was just feeling pretty run down and like I needed a break. Yarrive [Konsky] wanted me to maybe go and do a few of the Futures races, then come back and race here, or stay there if it went well and race some East races.
“But yeah, I didn’t really want to do those Futures races and it not go to plan because I would’ve ended up back here anyway and it would’ve interrupted my pre-season.
“I think I can have another good year here, then next year I want to go [to America]. If everything goes to plan, and I can stay healthy and have two good championships in motocross and supercross, then for sure, I’ll be looking to go next year.”
Joining Connolly to spearhead Honda’s MX2 effort when the 2025 season opens at Wonthaggi in late March will be Alex Larwood, who enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence in form last season.
