Teenager returning to KX250 following promising first MX2 campaign.
Cambell Williams will reunite with Empire Kawasaki for 2025 following a promising first season in MX2, returning to the team in place of Reid Taylor.
Williams, 19, started this year with the MotoGo Yamaha team, where he earned a season-best result of second in moto one at MX Farm on his way to 11th in the standings.
MotoGo didn’t continue into the Australian Supercross Championship, with Williams instead landing a satellite seat at the Raceline Husqvarna T-Dub Racing Team, and he finished an impressive P8 at Wollongong. A broken femur soon afterwards would end his season altogether, but promise displayed saw him signed to Empire Kawasaki entering 2025.
“I’m really excited to be rejoining the Empire Kawasaki team for 2025,” Williams commented. “This year was my rookie season in MX2 and I learnt a lot as my experience kept building. I’m confident for next year in returning to a package I know well with the KX250.
“Unfortunately, my supercross season ended early with a broken femur, but I’ve been fully dedicated to my recovery to ensure I’m in the best possible shape for 2025. The plan is to be back on the bike in January and I’ll then be able to head straight into a full pre-season program as part of the Beaton’s Pro Formula group.”
Williams has been on the national radar for a number of years since winning both MX3 motos at Wonthaggi in 2022, leading to a deal at Honda Racing for the remainder of the season. He switched to Empire Kawasaki last year, but was again affected by injuries, prior to stepping up to MX2 for this season.
