Front-runner won't be continuing onboard KX250 for 2025 season.
Reid Taylor has revealed that he won’t be continuing with Empire Kawasaki for the 2025 season, following a puzzling end to his final weeks at the Victorian-based team.
It was expected that Taylor would be remaining onboard the KX250 next year despite a troubled first season together, but it appears that will no longer be the case.
Taylor turned heads in Western Australia’s third round of the World Supercross Championship (WSX) last month in Perth when he transferred to a CDR Yamaha YZ250F for Sunday, and despite displaying front-running pace from the outset, a dislocated thumb ended his night early. It’s unclear if that ultimately led to Empire and Taylor parting ways.
“I’d like to thank Tyson Cherry for giving me an opportunity this season,” Taylor revealed. “My time with Empire Kawasaki has come to an end, it has been a roller-coaster of a year where I feel mechanical issues have been the biggest frustration of my 2024 race season. I’m committed to working hard and having a really strong 2025 season and looking forward to building on what I have done this year.”
The ProMX season saw Taylor finish outside the top 10 after experiencing a campaign with a mixture of high and low points, before AUSX resulted in fifth overall at the conclusion of the SX2 season. He finished second at Redcliffe 1 in his lone podium of the series.
