WBR Yamaha Bulk Nutrients’ Seth Burchell stamped his authority on the SX3 category at Redcliffe’s opening two rounds of the 2024 Fox Australian Supercross Championship by claiming back-to-back victories, while the CR22 85 Cup saw Jack Nunn (GasGas) and Seth Thomas (GasGas Junior Racing Team) split wins across both nights.

Burchell was unstoppable in the SX3 class, charging to an impressive 3.092s victory on night one ahead of Jake Cannon (Honda Racing), while it was Kayd Kingsford (WBR Yamaha Bulk Nutrients) who rounded out the podium.

Despite Sunday’s second round serving up rather different conditions, Yamaha-mounted Burchell was still the man to beat as he dominated proceedings, this time crossing the line with a comfortable 7.565s margin over GasGas Racing Team’s Ky Woods and WBR Yamaha Bulk Nutrients’ Koby Hantis. Burchell now holds a 12-point advantage in the championship standings.

Saturday’s opener proved to be a chaotic affair in the CR22 85 Cup, the race win coming down to the last corner on the final lap when Nunn pulled an impressive move on long-time race leader Cooper Ford (KTM Junior Racing Team).

In bizarre scenes, the move halted Ford’s momentum and he was unable to get over the finish line jump, forcing him to roll back down to the base of up-ramp. However, he had already crossed the transponder line and was credited second ahead of Thomas.

Round two wasn’t as eventful as the night prior, as Thomas rode to a commanding 3.032s victory over Deegan Fort (Yamaha Junior Racing) and night one winner Nunn. Thomas and Nunn sit equal on points in the standings as the series heads to Wollongong, New South Wales, for round three on 2 November.
