Teenager bypasses SX2 class altogether ahead of 2024 transition.
A decision for Jack Mather to bypass SX2 and enter the premier class of the 2024 Fox Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX) will see the teenager lead Raceline Husqvarna T-Dub Racing Team in the SX1 ranks when the gates drop at Redcliffe.
Mather won the SX3 title in 2022 with Husqvarna and will make the transition onto the FC 450 for this year, teamed with Raceline’s official SX2 class prospect Rhys Budd.
Injury affected Mather’s title defence last year after he opted to remain in SX3, however, this time around the young Queenslander will step up to the 450 division. It also marks the Todd Waters-managed team’s return to the SX1 class of supercross.
“I’m looking forward to getting back behind the gates this weekend and racing some supercross,” the 19-year-old said. “I’m stepping up to the SX1 class, so that’s been a pretty big move for me coming from SX3 last season.
“But I’m really looking forward to it. The prep coming in has been solid, and I’m feeling good on the FC 450, so I’m excited to get behind the gates with some of the big names!”
Mather was an MX2 rookie in ProMX with Raceline Husqvarna T-Dub Racing Team, claiming 10th in the final standings. In addition to Mather and Budd, Raceline Performance will also support Cambell Williams through the AUSX season.
