Honda Racing’s Wilson Todd will be forced to miss the entire 2024 Fox Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX) after damaging ligaments and fracturing his foot, potentially to be sidelined for up to six months.

He had been preparing to step back to the SX2 class after riding a 450 in ProMX.

Todd missed much of the outdoors – his rookie campaign in the MX1 class – with a severe friction burn to his leg, but managed to make it back in time for MX Farm and Queensland Moto Park ahead of schedule.

Plans for the four-time national MX2 champion to lead Honda’s charge with the updated new CRF250R in AUSX have now stalled, instead possibly facing a race against time to be at 100 percent fitness for next season. It’s unclear whether he will ride MX1 or MX2 in motocross for 2025.

“Not the news I want to be sharing – my first day on the bike last week was going good, actually felt really good on the new 250,” Todd announced. “Without a crash or even a mistake, I’ve torn the lisfranc in my right foot (ligaments that hold all the bones together) and also [have] a small fracture.

“I tagged a jump in a rhythm section – like everyone has done a million times – but I felt my foot snap on the up-ramp of the next jump, just so unlucky the way my weight must have been distributed. It’s really tough to accept after the year I’ve already had, but it’s a really bad injury that will have me out for around 4-6 months if goes well.”

Todd finished fourth in the SX2 point standings last year, in addition to also finishing ninth in the World Supercross Championship (WSX). There has been no indication if Honda Racing will source a replacement rider alongside existing 250 class entries Noah Ferguson and Alex Larwood for AUSX 2024.
